Faculty Comments - Vision Change Case 5 - Answer 8:

Question 8: Many physicians patch eyes also. What does the literature say about this?

Answer:

Actually, although this is a traditional/time-honored therapy, the Corneal Abrasion Patching Study Group investigated its efficacy. They found that for patients with non-contact lens related corneal abrasions which were "less than 10mm, healing time was faster and comfort was better in patients treated with antibiotic ointment without patching."
