Question 1: With an older patient, for what are you looking which are particularly common?
Answer:
Even though she has no history of hypertension or diabetes, it's still worth looking for retinal signs of these diseases such as
I. Diabetes (click on "Back" to return)
- retinal microaneurysms, hemorrhages, exudates, venous beading
- intraretinal microvascular abnormalities
- retinal neovascularization
- vitreous and/or preretinal hemorrhage
II. Hypertension (HTN) (click on "Back" to return)
- Exudates, Cotton Wool Spots, Copper and Silver Wiring, AV Nicking
- sometimes Papilledema, Hemorrhage
