Case #13

Final Diagnosis

Alzheimer’s Disease is one of the most devastating illnesses confronted by the patients and their families. Since there is no cure and only limited treatment options, it is also very frustrating for the treating physicians. However, there is very much a physician can do in helping patients and their families to cope with the illness as they go through the various stages of Alzheimer’s Disease. Empathy, support, education and referral to appropriate resources can improve the patients’ and their families’ experience of the illness.
