Clerkship
Exam
The National Board of Medical Examiners Shelf exam will be given on the last day
of the clerkship and will be based on common problems in family medicine.
Reading on the common problems listed on page 15, patient encounters during your
clerkship, and the required readings from the Sloane text Essentials of Family
Medicine (5th edition) will be helpful in preparation for the exam. A student
not receiving a passing grade will be required to retake the exam.
Final GradeYour final grade for the Family & Community Medicine Clerkship will be based on
- Evaluation by the faculty at the clerkship site - 70%
- For your information see pages 11-12 for a copy of the student evaluation
form used by preceptors to assess your performance during the clerkship.
- Exam and assignments - 30%
Extra credit will be given if both Option A and Option B are completed and if
additional computer cases are completed. However, grades are given based on the
quality of work and not simply the quantity of work. Therefore, completing both
assignments will help but not guarantee a high grade.
