Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is accredited as a Level I Regional Resource Trauma Center with additional qualifications in pediatric trauma by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation, a voluntary trauma center accrediting body authorized by the Pennsylvania state legislature. 

A multidisciplinary team led by a surgeon specialist in trauma management evaluates patients. Pediatric trauma services are coordinated by the pediatric trauma surgical service.
