The primary objective of the Department of Purchases is to
obtain maximum quality, value, and services for dollars expended,
in compliance with ethical trade practices. The departments
of Purchasing, Receiving, Supply and Distribution, PSHMC stores,
Print shop, and Laundry are responsible for the procurement and
distribution of supplies, equipment, and services necessary for
the operation of Penn State Hershey Medical Center and Penn State
College of Medicine. The Department of Purchases is a resource
for PSHMC with respect to researching
markets for new products, ideas, and
sources resulting in cost savings for
academic programs and research, and
improved patient care. The Department
of Purchases strategic plan is
