Penn State Pediatric Trauma

Since October 1993, the pediatric trauma program has been accredited by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation. Penn State Children's Hospital at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is the only designated Pediatric Trauma Center in South Central Pennsylvania.

The institution is accredited as a Level I Regional Resource Trauma Center with Additional Qualifications In Pediatric Trauma. This accreditation recognizes the expertise in managing any acute injury to a child ranging from a fracture to life threatening multiple injuries.

Pediatric specialists are available 24 hours a day to render immediate treatment to children with critical injuries from car crashes and falls. We care for thousands of injured children annually, more than 425 of whom require hospital admissions.

The Pediatric Trauma program at Penn State Children's Hospital includes a multidisciplinary team using age specific equipment that is ready to care for injured children from admission through rehabilitation.

In South Central Pennsylvania, Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is the only Level 1Trauma Center.
