Janet H. Shields, M.S.N., C.R.N.P, is a pediatric clinical nurse specialist and a pediatric
nurse practitioner. She is a graduate of Cedar Crest College and the University of Virginia. She helps
families learn about surgical illness, and the special care their
child may need at home. Ms. Shields works very closely with
the families of children who have chronic illness and assists
families in the transition from the hospital to home. She may
be able to help your family with access to some community-based,
social services.

Lynn G. Simmons, M.S.N., C.R.N.P, is a pediatric clinical nurse specialist and a pediatric
nurse practitioner. She is a graduate of West Virginia
University and the University of Maryland.
