The Gittlen Cancer Research Foundation consists of a seven-member faculty, with Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degrees, and occupies about 10,000 sq. ft. of laboratory space.   All faculty are engaged in basic and/or applied research directly related to cancer.  The Foundation came into being based on fund-raising efforts of Warren Gittlen, who established a fund to support cancer research following the death of his father over 35 years ago:  annual donations now amount to $775,000, all of which directly supports basic research.  The faculty currently raises an additional $3 million annually in research support from extramural sources.
