Karen helps to keep the administrative side of the lab running smoothly.  She is a reliable, capable, and dedicated individual who is always willing to help and cares about the patients we serve and the people she works with.  We are proud to recognize Karen.

Arrival of An Additional ThinPrep 2000 Processor in Cytology

The Cytology Laboratory is happy to announce the arrival of an additional ThinPrep 2000 Processor. The ThinPrep 2000 system is used in processing not only fluid cytology specimens but also liquid based gyn specimens. The ThinPrep processor has automated steps including dispersion of cells within the liquid based specimen, cell collection onto a filter and finally cell transfer onto a glass slide. The slide is then ready for staining, coverslipping and interpretation by the Cytotechnologist and Pathologist.  This addition will enable the Cytology Laboratory to accommodate the increasing fluid cytology specimen growth as well as the conversion to liquid based gyn technology from the conventional Pap smear.
