Research Focus
I am currently involved in clinical trial research sponsored by Glaxo Smith Kline. This multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel group study seeks to determine the safety and efficacy of lamotrigine 200-400 mg/day compared with placebo in subjects with painful diabetic neuropathy.

I am also involved in multiple projects with several medical students and residents, on various disorders of the upper extremity. We are conducting clinical studies to characterize the various symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, including studies to determine the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome associated with pregnancy. We are studying the effect of provocative testing in diagnosing thoracic outlet syndrome. We have recently completed several studies looking at quality of life measures in patients with myasthenia gravis, focused on levels of physical impairment as well as issues regarding anxiety and depression.
