Financial Aid Timeline
January
- Second disbursement for loans and student refunds.
- Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can
be filed after Jan. 1st. It is recommended that
students complete their taxes prior to completing the
FAFSA on line at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
February
- FAFSA should be filed by Feb. 28th for newly
admitted students to be considered for maximum aid for
their eligibility cohort. Parental information must be
included on the FAFSA (no parental signature needed)
for consideration for University Scholarships and
Loans including the Perkins Loan.
March
- Look for scholarships
- Check credit report.
April
- Award letters will be mailed to accepted students by
the end of the month. Students admitted thereafter
will be mailed a letter upon their acceptance of the
offer of admission.
May
- Students admitted for the current year should have
chosen a lender and completed their Master Promissory
Note for Stafford Loans and Promissory Note for
alternative loans if applicable.
June
- Report outside scholarship sources to Student Aid Office.
- Plan for start-up expenses.
- Develope spending plan for medical school.
July
- Begin packing for move to medical school.
August
- Fall semester bills will be emailed by the Bursar's
Office to incoming medical students.
- Incoming students will be required to complete an
entrance interview.
- Confirm your registration for fall semester on eLion
or by paying spring semester bill.
- Stafford and alternative loans first disbursement
and refund to students.
September - October
- Review spending plan and adjust spring financial aid if necessary.
November
- Spring semester bills will be emailed by the Bursar's
Office.
December
- Confirm your registration for spring semester on eLion
or by paying your spring semester bill.
