International Applicants
International applicants must complete all academic requirements for admissions in an accredited United States or Canadian college or university, follow the same
application procedures, and adhere to the same
timeline as domestic applicants. If accepted to the College of Medicine, international applicants must send the “College of Medicine Application for Visa Document” and “Proof of Finances” forms (provided upon acceptance) to the
Office of International Students and Scholars
(OISS) at Penn State’s University Park campus. Applicants currently in the United States should send copies of current visa, I-94, I-20, DS-2019 or other relevant documents to OISS with the forms. (Please note that once OISS has received materials needed to issue a student visa eligibility certificate, it will take up to two weeks to prepare and send the document. Applicants who are outside the U.S. and must apply for a student visa should have their I-20 processed by University Park by June 1 of your year of matriculation, to allow time for you to obtain a visa and make travel arrangements. Please be guided accordingly in submitting documents to
OISS.)
Accepted international applicants are sent a checklist detailing the above requirements, as well clearly indicating the deadlines for submission of these documents. Candidates will be withdrawn from the Entering Class - without the possibility of reinstatement - should the Checklist items not be fulfilled by the indicated deadlines.
Also, accepted international applicants must verify the ability to finance their medical education. Foreign nationals are not eligible for financial support from the federal government or The Pennsylvania State University. Please refer to the
Financial Aid section for the verification procedure for the College of Medicine.
