Basic Education Requirement for Human Subject Research

  • CITI Course Instructions: All investigators and key personnel must complete the basic CITI Course: Biomedical Research at Penn State, HMC & COM and meet the continuing education requirements every 3 years.

Consultation Services

  • Consultations are available for faculty/staff to discuss research and IRB requirements with the Human Subjects Protection Office staff. To schedule a consultation, call the HSPO at (717) 531-5687 and ask for an IRB Coordinator.

IRB Speakers

  • IRB speakers are available to provide presentations to departments and community groups upon request. Contact the HSPO at 531-5687 or hspo@hmc.psu.edu to schedule a presentation.

IRB Seminars and On-line Series

  • IRB Seminars & Workshops - Seminars and workshops are presented for researchers and staff, and are designated for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)or CEUs for attendance. Upcoming topics are listed below. To register contact the HSPO at 531-5687 or hspo@hmc.psu.edu. To provide seminar suggestions or feedback submit the IRB Seminar Evaluation.
  • On-line seminars and IRB New Investigator Series - Selected seminars are available on mediasite at http://media1.hmc.psu.edu/mediasite/Catalog/. Select 'IRB Seminars' from the menu, or select 'IRB New Investigator Series' for a collection of short presentations on the IRB requirements for conducting human subjects research at Penn State Hershey, including the IRB submission process, recruitment, informed consent, and investigator responsibilities.
