Penn State Infectious Diseases

Penn State Infectious Diseases Division provides comprehensive services in the diagnosis and medical management of infectious diseases. This includes inpatient and outpatient care of those affected with  complicated, unusual, or difficult to manage infections.

The mission of Penn State Infectious Diseases is to provide world class care, advance the knowledge of prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, and train the physicians of the future. Our physicians participate in research studies to determine the usefulness of novel treatments, and laboratory research to advance the basic knowledge of disorders in this field. Our physicians are board certified in Internal Medicine with additional Board Certification in the subspecialty of Infectious Diseases.

Our physicians have extensive clinical experience in the care of patients living with HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) and are actively involved in clinical research for the study of novel treatments for HIV. In 1999 Penn State Hershey Medical Center HIV/AIDS Program was awarded an HIV Early Intervention Services (EIS) grant under the Ryan White Care Act, Title III. The goal of this grant is to provide high quality comprehensive medical care to HIV-infected people.

Patients under the age of 18 should be referred to the Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Pediatrics.
