Cardiovascular Imaging Program
Coronary CTA

The specialists at the Penn State Heart and Vascular Institute are
excited about this new state of the art technology Siemens Definition
Dual 32 CT scanner. It will give the clearest non-invasive images of the
coronary arteries of any imaging modality currently. What is unique
about the program here at the HVI is that your patient’s coronary CTA
study will be evaluated by a team of cardiologists and radiologists,
offering the best a cooperative relationship like this has to offer. The
current indications for performance of a coronary CTA study as listed by
Highmark Blue Shield (as of November 13, 2007) include evaluation of a
patient with:
Equivocal or uninterpretable stress test, chest pain or anginal
equivalent (Intermediate pre-test probability of CAD) or (unable to
exercise) or (no ECG Δ and negative serial enzymes), known CAD, chest
pain and uninterruptible stress test, management of a symptomatic
patient with known CAD (e.g. post-stent; post-CABG), suspected
congenital anomalies of coronary circulation, prior to non-coronary
artery surgery (i.e. valve or aortic surgery), pre/post procedure to
assess pulmonary venous anatomy (pre-radiofrequency ablation for AFib)
or (Biventricular pacemaker), new onset heart failure to assess
etiology, cardiac mass, technically limited images from echocardiogram,
MRI or TEE, pericardial conditions (mass, constriction, post-cardiac
surgery), prior to repeat cardiac surgery (coronary arterial mapping),
suspected aortic dissection, thoracic aortic aneurysm or pulmonary
embolism.
To order the test for your patient, please click on the request form
below, fill it out and fax it to one of the numbers listed at the bottom
of the order form. A cardiologist
from the Penn State Heart and Vascular Institute will review the request
