Biostatistics

The Department of Public Health Sciences (PHS) assists in the preparation of applications for use of GCRC facilities as well as data analysis. PHS offers special help with sections of applications dealing with any phase of the design and analysis of clinical experiments and observational studies, including the estimation of power and sample size in complex experimental designs. PHS will assist in writing the design and data analysis sections. This is a crucial aspect of research planning, and potential GCRC investigators are encouraged to come in early and often, for advice in the development and maintenance of their projects.

PHS can assist with a wide variety of data analytical activities, from simple univariate descriptive statistics through advanced topics involving the multivariate analysis of longitudinal data. Finally, PHS will assist in the interpretation of the output of statistical analysis and its expression in scientific terms.
