Welcome to the General Clinical Research Center at Penn
State
Our primary mission is to provide research infrastructure
for investigators who conduct research with human subjects.
Investigations carried out can include studies of normal and
abnormal human function and studies of cause, prevention,
progression, and cure of diseases.
The GCRC at Penn State is part of a national network of
similar centers funded by the National Institute of Health
through the National
Center for Research Resources. The Penn State General
Clinical Research Center (GCRC) was funded by the National
Center for Research Resources in July, 1995 (Grant Number
M01RR10732) and is located at
the M.S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey and the Elmore Wing
of the General Clinical Research Center in University Park .
Oversight of the Center is provided by a General Clinical
Research Center Advisory Committee (GAC) and all protocols are
approved by this committee before work begins. IRB
(Institutional Review Board) approval is also required
before work begins.
Citing the GCRC Grant
All publications from research supported in any way by the
GCRC must cite GCRC support. The proper citation is: This
research was supported in part by a General Clinical Research
Center grant from NIH (M01RR10732) and GCRC Construction Grant (C06RR016499) awarded to the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine.
