The staff
of the Oculoplastic,
Orbital, and
Reconstructive Surgery
service diagnose and treat problems
associated with the eyelids, tear glands,
tear ducts, and orbit. Eyelid problems
include drooping eyelids, turning out
of the eyelids, in-turning of the
eyelids, misdirection of eyelashes,
excessive eyelid skin, eye muscle
spasms, eyelid injuries,
inflammations, and tumors. Tear system
problems include tear gland tumors and
excessive tearing; abnormalities,
obstructions and injuries of the tear
duct; and infection of the tear sac.
Orbital disorders often cause
prominence of the eye and consist of
Graves’ Disease (thyroid eye
disease), inflammations and infections
of the orbit, orbital tumors, injuries
and fractures of the orbit, and eye
socket problems.
