The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism of the Pennsylvania State
University College of Medicine proudly offers a fellowship designed to prepare
individuals for a career in Endocrinology.
It is the programs goal to achieve an optimal balance between clinical
training, didactic learning and research activities.
With this goal in mind, two tracks are currently available to maximize
training opportunities for those accepted.
Our two-year fellowship is designed for individuals pursuing a career in
clinical practice. It focuses strongly on clinical and didactic training.
Those individuals wishing to pursue academic careers have an option for a
three-year fellowship that is structured with research as a priority.
Our NIH-funded K30 program
and our affiliation with the NIH-funded General
Clinical Research Center
make this an extraordinary opportunity for training in clinical
research. Both programs meet and
exceed the requirements for board eligibility in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and
Metabolism.
Since fellowship positions are quite competitive, we
strongly encourage interested individuals to apply two years prior to the
desired start date (i.e., October, 2005, for starting July, 2007).
Since there is no matching program, there is no enforced deadline and
positions remain open until filled. While
all candidates will be considered, priority will be given to those pursuing
academic endocrinology. Qualified
candidates will have graduated from medical school, completed an Internal
Medicine residency at an approved institution, and will be eligible for a
Pennsylvania state medical license. With
rare exception, U.S. citizenship or permanent residency status is required so
that fellows may be eligible for NIH-training grant support.
Penn State University College of Medicine is an equal opportunity
employer and the Division of Endocrinology accepts all qualified applications
regardless of their gender, ethnic origin or religious background.
