Didactic Teaching
- Conferences and Seminars
Clinical
Endocrinology Conference: This
two-hour, weekly conference comprises a formal, didactic section in the first
hour and the discussion of challenging endocrine cases in the second hour.
On a monthly basis, part of the second hour is dedicated to the
presentation of selected recent, timely articles by the fellows in a journal
club format.
Core Endocrine
Laboratory Conference: In
this weekly conference, endocrine tests are discussed and correlated with
clinical data. This conference
provides both clinical and basic science education since basic biochemistry and
physiology related to the endocrine system are frequently discussed within this
context.
Diabetes Journal
Club: In this bi-weekly
conference, relevant articles are presented and discussed among members of the
diabetes team (physicians, nurse educators, nurse practitioner, physician
assistant, and dietitian). Fellows are
required to present at journal club 2-4 times per year.
Endocrine Research
Conference: In this
bi-weekly conference, members from the Division of Endocrinology or other basic
or clinical divisions and departments present their endocrine-related research
data.
Diabetes Research Conference:
This monthly conference is held jointly between Hershey and
University Park campuses by video connection. Investigators at both
campuses, along with invited outside speakers, present basic science and
clinical research in diabetes. Past seminars are archived on
line.
Basic
Science Conference: In
this monthly conference, Dr. Michael Verderame discusses the clinical
application of molecular biology techniques.
Endocrine
Oncology Journal Club:
In this monthly conference, organized in conjunction with the Division of
Hematology/Oncology, clinical and basic articles on endocrine-dependent tumors
are critically reviewed and discussed.
