Penn State Adult Medical Services

Penn State Endocrinology and Diabetes clinic is responsible for approximately 14,000 outpatient visits per year and serves as a major tertiary care referral resource for physicians in the twelve-county primary and secondary referral areas for Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. To facilitate service throughout central Pennsylvania, the Division has established a Camp Hill office.

The inpatient consult service interacts frequently with patients and faculty of the Departments of Surgery, Medicine, and Obstetrics and Gynecology. Approximately 2,000 consults are seen yearly. In this setting, consultants provide major expertise in the inpatient care of diabetic patients and in the care and evaluation of complex endocrine problems.

The major clinical problems include diabetes mellitus, pituitary tumors, hyper- and hypothyroidism, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, thyroiditis, hyper- and hypoadrenalism, amenorrhea, hyperprolactinemia, hirsutism, male hypogonadism and infertility, multiple endocrine neoplasia types I and II, and pheochromocytoma.
