Lorraine Mulfinger, Ph.D.

Lorraine Mulfinger is Associate Professor of Medicine and Associate Director of the Penn State Institute for Diabetes and Obesity. Dr. Mulfinger is a registered microbiologist with research experience in protein chemistry and antimicrobial treatments. She comes to the PSIDO from the Department of Chemistry at Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA. Prior to her tenure at Juniata College, Dr. Mulfinger served as Program Coordinator for the Center for Locomotion Studies at Penn State University, where she was a National Institutes of Health Career Reentry Scientist working on complications of the foot in diabetes. She has served on the human subjects Institutional Review Boards and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees of Penn State University and Juniata College. Her bachelor’s degree is from the Penn State Eberly College of Science, and her doctoral degree in veterinary science is from the College of Agricultural Sciences at Penn State were she was a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow.
