Nail Disorders
Dermatologists treat conditions that affect the fingernails and toenails.
Nail disorders account for approximately 10 percent of all skin
conditions. These disorders include ingrown nails, fungal infections,
bacterial infections, warts, and tumors. There
are also many other nail conditions that may be associated with more widespread
skin disorders such as psoriasis and lichen planus, and other systemic illnesses
such as liver and kidney disease, heart and
lung conditions, diabetes, and
anemia.
Your
dermatologist can evaluate your nail disorder and is also trained in nail
surgery.
