Pediatric Dermatology
Andrea L. Zaenglein, M.D. specializes in the rapidly growing
field of pediatric dermatology. Recognition
of common pediatric dermatoses, vascular and pigmented birthmarks, and genetic
skin disorders forms the foundation of this specialty. The therapeutic
management of cutaneous disorders in childhood is also rapidly emerging as new
therapies are developed for use in children. The safety and efficacy of already
existing treatments approved for use in adults are also being evaluated for use
in children. Clinical trials of new and existing therapies for the treatment of
common pediatric skin diseases are currently ongoing, including atopic
dermatitis and acne vulgaris.
