New Resident Leadership
Curriculum started.
Joslyn S. Kirby, M.D., will
be one of our new Dermatologists as of July 1, 2008.
Ninad Pendharkar, M.D., Heather
Salvaggio, M.D., and Renee Straub, M.D. will be our new
incoming Residents as of July 1, 2008.
Holly Gunn, M.D. will be our
new Dermatology Research Fellow as of July 1, 2008.
Michelle R. Young, M.D., will
be our new Dermatopathology Fellow as of July 1, 2009.
Holly Gunn, M.D., Sara Wasong,
M.D., and Lance Wood, M.D. will be our new incoming
Residents as of July 1, 2009.
Mark H. Hassel Educational
Endowment Fund launched which will provide financial support
for educational activities, clerkships, core lectures and
residency programs in the field of dermatology.
Amanda M Nelson, Ph.D. won the La Roche Posay acne research award for $10,000
to support her project, "Effects of 13-cis RA on Sebaceous
Glands.
Diane M. Thiboutot, M.D. was
advisor for the following Ph.D. graduates at Penn
State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and College of Medicine:
Amanda Marie Nelson, B.S., Purdue University,
postdoctoral appointment - Gittlen Cancer Research Foundation,
Penn State College of Medicine, and Terry M. Smith, B.S.,
Messiah College, will be employed by Emerald Advisers of
Lancaster, PA as a Research Analyst.
Angela Sprigle and Jessica
Yankura, second year Penn State medical students, did
research projects this past summer supported by federal work study
programs.

Upcoming Events
An Elegant
Evening of Food and Wine Pairings, on Saturday, March 28,
2009. To be held at Purcell Friendship Hall. With wine educator, Dean
J. Koppenhaver from Southern Wine and Spirits of Pennsylvania,
Proceeds to benefit the Penn State Dermatology Research
Endowment Fund. This elegant evening begins with a
selection of hors d'oeuvres paired to an appropriate wine.
The evening ends on a sweet note with a delicious dessert and a
wine match. A silent auction featuring wines and vacation
destinations will be available for your consideration.
$125 per person (includes wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres, and
