Postdoctoral Positions
Department of Neural and Behavioral Science
Dr. David Liu
The Pennsylvania State University, College of Medicine,
Department of Neural & Behavioral Sciences is seeking to
recruit a postdoctoral scholar who has research experience in
molecular biology, cellular biology, or neurobiology, to study
the molecular mechanisms that regulate survival and death of
neurons and/or brain tumor cells. The postdoctoral scholar
will be responsible for designing and carrying out experiments
for one of two projects.
The first project is to identify downstream targets of the
E2F pathway using Affymetrix gene chips and to investigate how
they mediate death in cultured neurons (Liu et al., G&D
19:719-32, 2005, and Liu and Greene, Neuron 32:425-38,
2001). A second project is to study the signal
transduction pathways that implicate ATF5 and/or Akt/Par-4 in
the regulation of brain tumor cell survival. Cultured cells
including glioblastoma C6 cell line will be used for initial
studies. Relevant work includes Angelastro et al, Oncogene
25:907-16, 2006, and Goswami, et al., Mol. Cell 20:33-44, 2005.
