| Description |
Patients within 3 hours of acute ischemic stroke are randomized to receive
standard of care treatment plus intravenous (IV) recombinant tissue
plasminogen activator (rt-PA) or a reduced dose of IV rt-PA combined with an
intra-arterial (IA) procedure to restore blood flow. Combination therapy may
increase chances of a favorable outcome. |
| What is expected of me? |
Permit their data to be collected and come in for standard care visits every
3 months after their stroke for 1 year. |
| Inclusion Criteria |
Male: Female; 18-80 years; NIHSSS ≥ 10 at the time that IV rt-PA is started |
| Exclusion Criteria |
Major exclusions: pregnancy or lactating females; stroke in past 3 months;
previous intra-cranial hemorrhage, brain tumor; uncontrolled Hypertension;
within 30 days of trauma, surgery, any active or recent hemorrhage; on hemo
or peritoneal dialysis; seizure at onset of stroke; received heparin past 48
hours, or oral anticoagulant therapy. |
