| Description |
Individuals with a new onset subarachnoid hemorrhage due to an aneurysm will
receive Albumin IV daily x 7 days. The study is to find out if albumin can
help prevent a patient’s stroke condition from getting worse, whether it
improves results long-term, and if study medication is safe. |
| What is expected of me? |
Permit the collection of data daily for up to 15 days, the infusion of the
drug Albumin daily, and the collection of data from their standard care 3
month post stroke clinic visit. |
| Inclusion Criteria |
Male or female; 18-80 years of age; clinical signs consistent with the
diagnosis of subarachnoid hemorrhage Head CT; cerebral angiography reveals
the presence of saccular aneurysm(s) in a location that explains the
subarachnoid hemorrhage; Treatment of cerebral aneurysm must be carried out
prior to treatment initiation but within 72 hours of symptom onset. |
| Exclusion Criteria |
Time of symptom onset cannot be reliably assessed; no demonstrable aneurysm
by cerebral angiography; evidence of traumatic, mycotic, or fusiform
aneurysm by cerebral angiography; head computed tomography rating scale of 0
– 1; history within the past 6 months, and/or physical findings on admission
of decompensated congestive heart failure |
