Description Individuals with a new onset subarachnoid hemorrhage due to an aneurysm will receive Albumin IV daily x 7 days. The study is to find out if albumin can help prevent a patient’s stroke condition from getting worse, whether it improves results long-term, and if study medication is safe.
What is expected of me? Permit the collection of data daily for up to 15 days, the infusion of the drug Albumin daily, and the collection of data from their standard care 3 month post stroke clinic visit.
Inclusion Criteria Male or female; 18-80 years of age; clinical signs consistent with the diagnosis of subarachnoid hemorrhage Head CT; cerebral angiography reveals the presence of saccular aneurysm(s) in a location that explains the subarachnoid hemorrhage; Treatment of cerebral aneurysm must be carried out prior to treatment initiation but within 72 hours of symptom onset.
Exclusion Criteria Time of symptom onset cannot be reliably assessed; no demonstrable aneurysm by cerebral angiography; evidence of traumatic, mycotic, or fusiform aneurysm by cerebral angiography; head computed tomography rating scale of 0 – 1; history within the past 6 months, and/or physical findings on admission of decompensated congestive heart failure
