PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Upon completion, participants should be able to:

  • Describe new research and clinical data on the effects of nicotine and tobacco

  • Discuss recent advances in nicotine and tobacco research
  • Through scientific exchange, integrate current research with implications for clinical practice
  • Address nicotine and tobacco’s role in the changing health-care environment

AUDIENCE

The annual conference is designed to provide a cross-disciplinary perspective in cutting-edge science related to nicotine and tobacco. The content is designed for individuals involved in the research of nicotine and tobacco, including basic, clinical and public health scientists from academia, government, and industry. 

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT FOR PSYCHOLOGISTS
This program awards 14.50 hours for licensed psychologists. Penn State College of Medicine—Education, Health Services, and Outcomes Research Division (EHSORD) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Penn State College of Medicine—EHSORD maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Full attendance at the sessions is required to receive CE credit for psychologists. Partial credit will not be awarded.  Late arrivals or early departures will preclude awarding of CE credits.

Instruction for psychologists is designed at the intermediate skill level.

CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION CREDIT FOR PHYSICIANS

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of Penn State College of Medicine and the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco. Penn State College of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Penn State College of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 14.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

 

Physicians who have completed an MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree from another country, or who have obtained a Fifth Pathway certificate, are eligible to receive AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.

 

REQUIREMENTS TO RECEIVE CREDIT

Evaluation of the sessions is integral to the education process. To receive CE credit, participants are required to:

  • Complete the attendance form, indicating only those sessions attended in their entirety

  • Complete the overall evaluation form and individual evaluations

  • Return the forms to the registration table to receive your certificate
