CME Accreditation
Penn State Hershey College of Medicine is accredited by the
Accreditation Council for
Continuing Medical Education. The ACCME's Mission is the identification,
development, and promotion of standards for quality continuing medical education
(CME) utilized by physicians in their maintenance of competence and
incorporation of new knowledge to improve quality medical care for patients and
their communities.
Our programs for physicians are approved for
American Medical Association
category 1 credit toward the
Physician’s Recognition Award. (PRA). The PRA recognizes physician
participation in CME activities which serve to maintain, develop, or increase
the knowledge, skills, and professional performance a physician uses to provide
services for patients, the public, or the profession. The Pennsylvania State Board
of Medicine requires physicians to verify that they have met mandated continuing
education requirements by earning AMA credit. Requirements include both AMA category 1
credit and AMA category 2
credit, including hours in patient safety/risk management. Specific information
is available from the State
Board of Medicine.
