The Penn State Institute for Diabetes and Obesity announces the 4th Annual
Diabetes and Obesity Research Retreat on April 21, 2008 at the Hotel Hershey in
Hershey, PA. This event regularly attracts an average of 100 clinicians
and scientists sharing the latest advances in the prevention and treatment of
diabetes and obesity.
The Keynote Speaker for this year's event is Dr. Eric Ravussin, Chief of the
Division f Health and Performance Enhancement and Douglas L. Gordon Chair
Diabetes and Metabolism at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton
Rouge, LA. Dr. Ravussin is internationally recognized for his work in the
field of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus. His studies explore the
molecular mechanisms that determine the inter-individual variability in energy
expenditure, focusing on fat oxidation and activity of the sympathetic nervous
system. He also concentrates on the relationship between physiology and
gene expression in response to diet and physical training.
The one-day agenda includes plenary and concurrent sessions highlighting

Join us for a day of sharing current Penn State research in diabetes. There
is no fee to attend, however pre-registration
is requested. Registrations received by April 18, 2008 will be confirmed
by e-mail. Late registrations can be accepted only if space is available.
This event is sponsored by Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, the Penn State
College of Medicine and multiple colleges at University Park. The program
has been planned by members of the Penn State Institute for Diabetes and Obesity
(PSIDO) Executive Committee, Programmatic Chairs and faculty.
Penn State College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for
Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for
physicians.
Penn State College of Medicine designates this educational activity for a
maximum of 5.6 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians
should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in
