Research in the Department of Anesthesiology is conducted by numerous faculty, residents, post-docs and technicians and generally falls into three distinct but highly complementary arenas: Basic, Clinical, and Simulation/Education.
Basic Research in anesthesiology is conducted in two laboratories which are under the leadership of Dr. Keith Elmslie and Dr. Victor Ruiz-Velasco.
The Clinical Research efforts in the department are led by Dr. Piotr Janicki.
Simulation/Education Research is spearheaded by Drs. Bosseau Murray, Leonard Pott and Elizabeth Sinz.
The Joseph Priestley Resident Research Scholarship is available for residents who desire to become researchers and academic anesthesiologists.
