The Program on Education in Human Structure at Penn State's College of
Medicine offers training programs leading to Masters (M.S.) or Doctoral
(Ph.D.) degree in Anatomy for individuals interested in acquiring advanced
training in the anatomical sciences. The
Anatomy Masters Program is a two-year course of study,
with an emphasis in preparing students for further professional education
(e.g., medicine, dentistry and osteopathy). The Doctoral Degree
provides an opportunity for students who want to pursue an academic
career in the biological sciences to acquire specialty training and teaching
experience. Study in these traditional areas will be augmented by courses
offered by the department of Neural and Behavioral Sciences, or by other
departments within the College of Medicine. As part of the thesis
requirement, each student will conduct original research under the
supervision of a faculty member culminating in the oral defense of a written
master's thesis. Teaching responsibilities in the anatomical sciences are
required in the second year. Each student may tailor their graduate training
to suit their particular interests as long as they fulfill the basic
requirements for the degree; thus, students can emphasize the academic
preparation, research, or teaching aspects of the program.
We welcome your interest in our program and we trust that you will share
our enthusiasm for the opportunities that the Program on Education in Human
Structure offers. |
